ABOUT THE CUSTOMER

Nev’s Ink, founded in 1989 by Gary Neverman, is a specialty label manufacturer based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The company operates a two-shift, five-days-a-week schedule, primarily serving the healthcare market across the United States, Canada, and seven other countries. Neverman’s core business philosophy focuses on maximizing quality, minimizing turnaround time, and maintaining consistent customer service.

CHALLENGES

In its early years, Nev’s Ink relied solely on basic accounting software, manually entering orders and typing invoices. As the company grew, the following challenges emerged:

  • Lack of an efficient system to track finished goods inventory.
  • Difficulty in managing production scheduling and accommodating rush orders.
  • The need for an integrated solution to streamline stock product management.
  • A growing demand for improved customer service, including online order tracking.
  • The necessity of better artwork management for accurate and rapid modifications.

SOLUTION

After an extensive four-year evaluation process, Nev’s Ink implemented Label Traxx in 1996. The company initially installed the software on two Macintosh computers but has since expanded to 25 workstations across its two-building operation. Label Traxx was chosen for its ability to:

  • Provide a comprehensive business management system tailored for label printing.
  • Allow seamless scheduling and rescheduling of press operations to accommodate urgent orders.
  • Track productivity efficiently by enabling employees to log on and off without the need for a physical time clock.
  • Support both Mac and PC users on the same system for operational flexibility.

BENEFITS & IMPACT

With Label Traxx, Nev’s Ink has realized significant operational improvements:

  • Enhanced Inventory Management: The Stock Products module enables employees to locate finished goods instantly, ensuring stock items are shipped the same day or within 24 hours.
  • Optimized Production Scheduling: The system allows dynamic scheduling of presses, improving efficiency and turnaround time.
  • Improved Customer Experience: The E-Traxx module allows customers to check order status online without requiring assistance from customer service representatives.
  • Increased Order Efficiency: Custom orders are processed and shipped within an average of 3.5 days.
  • Seamless System Reliability: The software has operated without crashes since its installation, ensuring uninterrupted workflow.
  • Future-Proofing Business Operations: Nev’s Ink is currently working on integrating artwork management within Label Traxx to streamline modifications and enhance accuracy.

According to Gary Neverman, “Label Traxx is extremely reliable, highly flexible, and becoming even more powerful with each new version. The system is as fast and robust as any mainframe, yet remains affordable with excellent software support.” With Label Traxx, Nev’s Ink continues to improve efficiency, maintain customer loyalty, and drive cost savings for its clients.
