ABOUT THE CUSTOMER
CV Labels, based in Irvine, Scotland, was founded in 1989 as a two-man operation and has since grown into a 16-employee company with annual sales of approximately £1 million. Specializing in self-adhesive labels, the company serves the medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, electronics, and food and drink industries. With a strong technical capability, CV Labels also provides thermal ribbons, various printers, and maintenance services to its diverse clientele.
CHALLENGES
As CV Labels expanded, the limitations of manual estimating and recordkeeping became increasingly evident. The company needed a reliable system to manage accurate job costs and track materials efficiently. An initial attempt at developing a bespoke software solution proved unsuccessful due to the developer’s lack of understanding of the label industry. This led to inefficiencies, software issues, and frustration within the company. CV Labels required a comprehensive, industry-specific software solution to streamline its operations.
SOLUTION
After extensive evaluation, CV Labels implemented Label Traxx, a software solution specifically designed for label converters and flexographic printers. While initially cautious about adopting a system supported from another continent, the company was reassured by Label Traxx’s newly established UK office. The company began by integrating the Estimating, Order Processing, and Stock Product modules, with the flexibility to expand as needed. Label Traxx also provided remote support from its US-based team, addressing issues promptly despite the time difference.
BENEFITS AND IMPACT
- Improved Quoting Process: The new estimating system streamlined the quotation process, reducing paperwork and enhancing customer service through simplified email-based quoting.
- Enhanced Inventory Management: The Stock Products module provided visibility into all stock items, ensuring accurate shipping and cost tracking.
- Operational Efficiency: Automation replaced cumbersome manual recordkeeping, reducing errors and saving time.
- Scalability: CV Labels retained its existing financial and quality control systems but positioned itself to integrate more Label Traxx modules in the future.
- Employee Adaptation: Despite initial resistance to change, employees embraced the system, recognizing its efficiency and reliability.
The implementation of Label Traxx transformed CV Labels’ operations, enabling better decision-making through improved cost tracking and data management. With a stronger grasp on stock control and order processing, the company improved both internal efficiencies and customer service. Moving forward, CV Labels aims to leverage Label Traxx further for enhanced reporting and machine utilization insights, ensuring continued growth and competitiveness in the label industry.
